I’m back with my first love-and I couldn’t be more excited.

After starting my career as a sports journalist (then detouring into political reporting and government public relations), I am back in the world of sports, this time helping to lead the new sports media major within Susquehanna University’s Department of Communications.

As a lifelong sports fan whose career included stints covering Penn State football and Triple-A baseball while I worked for the Wilkes-Barre, Pa., media, I hope to bring my experience to bear in the classroom, where I will be teaching courses such as sports journalism and sports media relations and promotion. Although I’ve been teaching a variety of other communication courses at Susquehanna over the last 15 years, it’s this newest opportunity-to train the next generation of sports media professionals-that really has me fired up these days. I’ll be teaming with our other faculty, notably radio guru Dr. Craig Stark and video whiz John Foltz, to help prepare students to be professional, ethical sports reporters who ask tough questions and deliver insightful, objective coverage.
